Here
is our view, overlooking the end of Doe Lake. Enjoy the open countryside.
Watch the animals in adjoining fields and a variety of wildlife that passes
through. Deer are frequent visitors to our yard especially in spring,
and some of our guests have been lucky enough to see moose, fox, or a
wolf in the field. Bring your own binoculars or use ours.
Many of our guests enjoy birdwatching, and we have a good variety for
them to observe. Depending upon the time of year you may see hummingbirds,
American goldfinches, purple finches, eastern bluebirds, rose-breasted
grosbeaks - to name just a few. From May to September ruby-throated hummingbirds
enhance the Wit's End experience. We occasionally see or hear a pair of
Sand Hill cranes in the back field.
The open
sky is ideal for stargazing on clear nights. We call it our own "dark
park" as there is very little light pollution in our location. From
time to time, we are able to see the Aurora Borealis (northern lights).
Wondering if tonight might be the night to see the Aurora? Click
here. Some guests like to lie on a blanket on the lawn and marvel
at the beauty which we take for granted. This is a great spot to see the
Perseids Meteor Showers.
